I've been a devoted fan of The Office for the fast two years. It's a show that, while I thoroughly enjoy and look forward to every Thursday, I wish I would have started watching four years ago and been there from the beginning. There are a couple of other shows that, luckily enough, I was able to catch from the get-go - Pushing Daisies, Reaper, and Chuck.
But there's another show that I'm sad I've missed until this, its third season, is 30 Rock. The first season was on sale at Target last week, and I decided to pick it up on a lark.
Oh.
My.
Gosh.
How did I miss this? Following the Emmys, I couldn't help but wonder how this program could pull off winning Best Actor (Alec Baldwin), Best Actress (Tina Fey), and Best Comedy. I didn't understand how it possibly could have beat out The Office. But after watching most of the first season, I'm sold. It's humorous, solidly acted, at times absurd, and totally worthwhile. The ensemble cast is quite talented, and Tina Fey is completely captivating as Liz Lemon (and it helps that I've had a crush on her since her early days on SNL).
From Brian Williams' messy office to Jack dating Condee Rice or Maureen Dowd to Tracey seeing blue men everywhere, it's really fun. If you haven't seen it, I encourage you to. Catch it before it gets cancelled, because it's almost inevitable that it will, because it's not getting enough viewers.
I can't wait to wrap up season one and see season two before season three starts at the end of the month - because it's really funny.
