Self-deprecation is worth its weight in smoldering phoenix-ashes and baby unicorn tears.

For those who care:  NBC anchorman Tim Russert died this afternoon.  He was 58.

He was one of the most pugnacious and tenacious news anchors in recent memory.  People knew that Russert didn't mess around.

And he was one of my favorite news anchors.  I used to watch "Meet the Press" every Sunday morning when I lived in the states.  And I'm sad I won't get to see his crusty face on Sunday morning ever again.

I mean, I loves me some George Stephanopolous (sp?), but I'll still miss Tim Russert. Just pray Chris Matthews isn't the one to take his place permanently.

It just goes to show that you never know when your time is. Its not right, he goes and we are stuck with Bush.

I always thought Tim Russert was one of the more fair reporters.  He was really young to die.   Ack! on the idea of Chris Matthews, that man!

I was stunned when I heard the news, and I'm still a bit stunned.  He was still a fairly young individual and was the consummate professional at his job.  He will most certainly be missed and the world of politicians is probably breathing just a little easier knowing they won't have to face him and have their feet held to the fire as much now.
