Self-deprecation is worth its weight in smoldering phoenix-ashes and baby unicorn tears.
or; visa application process, you suck.

After a lot of rigmarole and some superior hoop-jumping, everything is finally in place for my studies in Spain - more or less.

I had to move my flight - I was supposed to leave yesterday, but the visa would not have arrived in time.

I had to bug the visa department of the Spanish Consulate incessantly.

I'm going to miss the first week of school, so I'll be a bit behind when I get there.

But all this is okay. All these are hurdles that I'm willing to jump to study in Spain.

And the hurdle-jumping is (mostly) through. Okay, so I may not have a place to stay yet, but me and my professor's son are probably going to get a place together, to save on rent.

But that's small potatoes compared to the not having the visa - which just showed up on my front steps, dropped off by my mail lady.

Yay. It might seem like I'm not too excited about it, but if you could see the smile on my face.

You'd be a pretty cool schmuck if you said 'Come visit me in Spain' instead...

I've said it, but that would go over with her over-protective mother like a ton of bricks . . .

Now comes the hard part: packing!

No kidding! It sucks donkey butts. Thanks though!

I'm sitting here in my room.

Things are almost all packed - just the last batch of laundry and the computer and I'm set.

There's such a mix of emotions going through me right now that I'm not quite functioning the way I normally would.

I'm more than a little scared. But I'm also way more than just a little excited. I'm trepidatious, as well as being ecstatic.

I probably won't be around until I'm settled, JU, so take care of yourselves while I'm gone. Behave - don't get into any crazy fights.

Wish me luck.

I'm sitting here at my computer near tears because I know that you won't be only four hours away anymore. I can't believe I don't get to see you until July. I miss you and love you and know that you will have the time of your life in Spain. Keep up with the school work that you missed, and be good!

Love,
Little Sis.
