Self-deprecation is worth its weight in smoldering phoenix-ashes and baby unicorn tears.
or; yeah.

Many articles have already been written in this vein, but I'd like to add my voice to the chorus.

Thank you, veterans, for:

1)Protecting my freedoms,

2)Standing up for my country all around the world,

3)Doing your duty, and (last but certainly far from least)

4)Getting me the day off of work.

For these things, I love you.

Sometimes, I love working at a financial institution.

Like today – another one of the myriad ridiculous holidays that the Fed takes. (That's a common misperception – it's not the bank's fault that they're not open on all these holidays – it's the Federal Reserve, because when the Fed's closed, we have to be, too. So if you hate the fact that us bankers are such lazy-ass punks who get paid holidays, get pissed at the Fed, not me, that we're closed.

Yes, Granny at the drive-up, I'm talking to YOU, woman.)

Other times, I hate it. (I've mentioned all this here before.) The two things people are the most defensive about? Their families and their money.

And the money comes first most of the time.

I miss the Colbert Report.

Stupid strike. I wish the network execs would pay the writers what they deserve.

--

Stupid Spanish embassy. They are gonna make me go to LA to apply for my visa. So I'll have to take the day off of work, fly to LA for less than a day, be there long enough to fill out a two-page paper, and then fly home.

Ah, the joys of international immigration.

Plegh.

I had something else I wanted to say, but I can't remember.

Whatever. If I think of it, I'll probably put it somewhere.

I think I lost my keys.

My wife works in a bank and agrees with you 100%. People really do get all uptight about their money! Of course, yeah, so do I...

Oh yeah...and ditto on the happy Veterans Day! Thanks Dad for your Navy service in the Pacific in WWII and Uncle for your Army service in Europe during the same war and grandpa for your Army service in France in WWI and to the other friends and relatives who served in Korea and Vietnam. I love you all.

Thanks to Gramps, paratrooper in WWII in the pacific theater, and to Grandpa, infantry soldier in Korea.

You both kick ass.

Dare you to call Grandpa and tell him that.

Hmm, sounds like Embassys are the same around the world. My brother, SIL and kids have to come to Sydney from Canberra (the nations's capital and embassorial headquarters) to get visas for their trip to the States (my SIL's country of birth, by the way) because the American embassy in Canberra has no administrations staff. Meanwhile, a friend of mine, who lives in Sydney, has to go to Canberra to get a visa for his impending trip to the UK because the British embassy doesn't have an administration staff in Sydney.

Crazy...

You have to fly to LA just to complete paperwork? Nuts!

Hope you found your keys!
