The Westboro Baptist "Church" strikes again!

It seems as though these virulent, godless inbred retards have sent a fax to the Deseret Morning News regarding the mine collapse here in the state. It begins with the words, "Thank God for Utah mine disaster."

It continues to read that they're going to picket in Utah, with huge banners reading "God Hates Fags!" If (but at this point, it's becoming more and more likely when) they have funerals for any dead miners, they've pledged to be here, with all their rotten, Christ-less behavior, picketing, yelling, and just generally being assholes, as is quid pro quo for these people.

Gotta love people like that.

My first reaction is, of course, to say, "Why don't we all go down there and picket with signs saying, 'God Hates Westboro "Church" More!' That'll be fun . . ." And while it would be fun, and there'd probably be an ensuing (and oh-so-very gratifying) fistfight that would break out, ultimately I know I won't go down there to start anything.

Why? Because "He that hath the spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil, who is the father of contention, and he stirreth up the hearts of men to contend one anger, one with another." That's why. Starting a fight, while temporarily gratifying, would solve nothing - save I'd have a lawsuit from these idiots for seriously breaking some face. And that's something I don't want to deal with.

Oh well. They can be content feeling as though they've done good in this life, and when the judgment day comes, and they're weighed in the balance and found entirely, completely lacking of anything resembling human decency, I can have myself a good little chuckle.

Is that petty? You'd better believe it. But those inbred retards of Westboro deserve nothing more.

Gotta disagree with your title there. As loathsome as I find the actions of Phelps' group, I feel that they need to know God as bad as anyone else out there on the planet.

I believe that homosexuality is wrong, yet I would never scream "God hates gays!", and I won't scream that God hates Phelps either. God is far more loving and gracious than me, and I am eternally thankful for that fact.

I don't think God actually hates them, either. That title was used as a ploy to bring in readers. I know God loves us all, but I'm pretty sure people like this piss him off something good.

Vilification, of any sort, is wrong, as far as I'm concerned. That this is perpetrated by a church group only makes it even worse. They are probably all closet perverts, if the truth be known.

The church, instead of meeting the needs of the community, will instead be out marching with "God hates" signs, showing the world only their own attitudes, and not anything of the attitude God has, or wants THEM to have. But the world sees this, and becomes certain that God is not anyone to hang around with, because they've done something that He'll find to hate about them too.

And so, damage is done to the loving church, as a dead, hateful church marches out on the anti-sinner crusade of its own creation.

Anti-sin? All for it. Anti-sinner? No way.

What really sucks is that God loves Westboro Baptist Church's members, too, so I can't crusade against them. They're sinners too. We need to reach them... in fact, since they claim to be Baptist, we should reach out... and slap 'em. Say, "Hey, what do you think you're doing?" -smack!- "You're ambassadors for CHRIST. Do you remember Him? Did He picket the funerals of unrepentant sinners?"

And, as someone said on another thread entirely, making a political statement over a dead body is wrong.

Bible verse of the day, for Westboro Baptist Church and for me too:

Romans 2:1

"Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things."

Love this one, very Buddhist, if we get past the judging thing altogether.

See ya!
