Self-deprecation is worth its weight in smoldering phoenix-ashes and baby unicorn tears.
or; come on, people.

YES TODAY IS THE DAY, PEOPLE. SEND A MESSAGE TO YOUR INTESTINES - WE'LL HAVE NO GAS TODAY! NO BEANS! NO CABBAGE! TAKE YOUR BEANO! WE'RE SENDING A MESSAGE TO GLOBAL WARMING COMPANIES AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE! THIS WAS COMPLETELY MOTIVATED BY MY LOVE FOR THE EARTH, NOT BECAUSE I JUST BOUGHT 10,000 STOCKS IN THE BEANO CORPORATION!

----------------------------------------------------

This was for all of you who actually believe that this one-day gas boycott is going to work.

Guess what?

It's not.

Nice try.

I made it a point to go fill up both our cars today!  And guess what.... no trees died. ;~D

You nut!! Send me some of those stocks already!!

You are correct. Not buying gas for one day will do nothing. Enacting an Excess Profits Tax on Big Oil will make a difference and invest that tax revenue in alternate energy production.

Damn!  Wish you had posted earlier.  I already had a burrito today!

i didn't buy any gas today, cause i didn't need any,...but i did notice a lot of stations weren't doing the kind of business they usually do. when i stopped in one place to get cigarettes, i asked him about business and the boycott...he looked at me, streched out his arms and shrugged. "been pretty slow today, and that is surprise." It turns out that this particular station discounted their gas on Tuesday and was usually their busiest day.

i have no idea if it will "work" or not...in fact i'm not sure what the defintions of victory and defeat are here.

i did get an oil change before my inspection. but that's good american oil.

actually, it was 1/2 american oil, and 1/2 synthetic...which addresses the following issue even better, lol...

we're FINANCING a war against our interests

Hell, as long as we're FINANCING a war against our interests, I'm all for rationing gasoline for the duration. You get 'x' gallons per week, make it last or make other arrangements.

The war in Iraq would end real quick and in a hurry if we did that.

SC: Too late. I already got Taco Bell.

I never understood the boycott for one day idea. I like that people are trying, but it's pretty worthless. A ton of people asked me to join in, but I was like.....no.....
