or; the sick minds of some . . .
"My daughter and I have a healthy close relationship," a person with the screen name of Sonali posted. "We have been in a 'consensual sexual relationship' almost two months now."
The daughter, Sonali wrote, is 10.
"Every human being, no matter the age, should be allowed to have consenting mutual sexual relations with anyone they wish," wrote a man calling himself Venn. "All age of consent laws must, and forever, be abolished."
"Anti-pedophiles are NOT about protecting children," a man who called himself Christopher wrote. "They are usually the ones who are beating (they call it spanking) or emotionally neglecting their children."

(Read the article these quotes were taken from here.)
I sat down to eat breakfast, performing my usualy ritual of opening the two morning papers we get delivered to our house and perusing them as I devour last night's leftovers. First I read through the Standard Examiner (affectionately referred to in the Jones household as the "Sub-Standard Exaggerator"), and then I picked up the Deseret ("Desperate") News.
I was confronted on the front page by this article, containing actual quotes from internet chat rooms by admitted pedophiles discussing their attraction for underage persons, and how it's not a wrong thing at all.
I practically vomited into the tupperware container holding last night's shepherds' pie.
HOW IN THE HELL DO THESE PEOPLE GET TO THIS POINT?!?!?!?!? WHAT KIND OF SICK BASTARD THINKS LIKE THAT? (Sorry. Wait, no I'm not!)
What can be done to keep these people away from children? I don't care what they say about consent, etc., a ten-year-old is simply "doing what the man told me". A ten-year-old is not, I repeat, NOT aware of their own sexuality enough to actually want this sort of thing to happen!
But what can we do about it? To quote the article, "The conversations themselves are not illegal. And, given the fantasy world that the Internet can be, it is difficult to prove the truth about personal statements or to demonstrate direct connections between online commentary and real-world actions." But what can we do? I'm sure many of you have seen the Dateline specials with Perverted Justice, where many would-be-pedophiles were caught, charged, and convicted. But what else can be done to stem the sick tide of pedophilia?
Maybe we should just pray real hard that Jesus will hurry up and get here and wipe these sickos off the face of the earth."
