I don't know how many of you heard about what happened on Monday night here in the state of Utah. For those of you who don't know, there was an eighteen year old male who entered a local mall, Trolley Square, with a shotgun and opened fire, aiming to kill as many people as possible. He succeeded in slaying five; he was cornered by an Ogden off-duty police officer in the Pottery Barn Kids store, the Salt Lake SWAT came, and they took care of him.

It's a tragedy; we still don't know what was going on here, and how exactly all this happened. Serious? Yes. It was very, very creepy to watch it play out during the live TV coverage, with the local TV girl calling in from her cell phone as she was trapped in the mall, hearing fire.

Because this was a developing story, they continued coverage after the end of the six o'clock news and even into the eight o'clock hour, cutting into the first forty minutes or so of both 24 and Heroes - two of the most popular shows on TV.

Consequently, both the local NBC and FOX affiliates were flooded with calls, bemoaning the missing of their TV shows.

DO YOU HONESTLY THINK THAT 24 OR HEROES IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE LOCAL SHOOTING OF FIVE PEOPLE?

Come on, people. Priorities. It's not like they're not going to replay those episodes this weekend - THEY ARE. But is it really such a big deal that you missed some of your TV shows?

Boo hoo, you asshats. I don't feel bad at all about you missing your Heroes. Get a life; TV is not one. Your obsession with a stupid TV show is not only unfounded, but pointless.

Guess what? The press conference from the officers on Tuesday cut into the first twenty minutes of one of my favorite programs. Did I call in in a panic? NO. I DEALT WITH IT.

The local tragedy is more important that your frakking entertainment.

For the petty people, perhaps Cable is the answer?

But the NEW shows aren't on cable yet! Oh crap!

I still have no sympathy. I still don't know exactly what happened with Richard Gilmore's heart attack, because I missed twenty minutes of my show. Oh well, such is life. Come on, people.

I heard about it and what a tragedy! I never understand people who go out and take other people's lives just because they're mad at the employer or something. Those poor innocent people!

I can understand the people who got upset about the programming thing, but yeah, that's self-centered and thoughtless.

The media people do repeat things over and over and over and over though. It was the same here when the tornadoes happened. While it was great to hear the coverage and know what was going on and thanking my lucky stars it wasn't us, it took the whole day...the entire day...all the local stations...the entire weekend. I saw the same news over and over and over again til I got bored.

He's still alive! I thought that was it for his character. But you probably know this already since you were able to see the rest of it right?

Did you watch it last night? I'm not surprise about Christopher and Loreli...sorry for the hijack! I love Gilmore Girls!

As you say, do these people have lives? If they so desperately want to see these shows without interruptions, they'd wait until they come out on DVD, like I do.

I don't give a damn about live coverage. A scrolling newsbar at the bottom of the screen will say everything they need to, and then quick updates instead of commercials if they feel it's incredibly important.

News is so easily available entertainment channels should think twice before interrupting their primary business to provide something everyone else does better.

True. But I always thought the safest place in the Universe would be A Luby's cafeteria in the middle of Texas.

That Luby's sat empty until about 6 months ago. Evry year or two someone would put up a sign that a new restraunt was going to open.....and then the sign would disappear. We used to speculate that it was just too creepy to reuse the building. But some enterprising Koreans opened a Chinese resturant and it seems to be okay.... When I moved here I found it odd that it sat empty all these years. I would have expected it to be replaced or torn down.

DANG! I MISSED IT! (Oh wait, that's becuase my local cable company changed the UPN / WB to CW on the pricey Digital Super Tier and I can't afford it.....I wish I could still watch, but what can youdo.

I have to agree. I'd like to be informed but I dont' need the same info rehashed for 40 minutes. They kept breaking into TV last week with the "breaking news" about a murder trial. I dont' need to find out that she was guilty and will be sentenced in only 30 minutes.....27 minutes.....25 minutes.....22 minutes....... They broke in every 2 or 3 minutes AND ran a HUGE scroll. It started to get really irritating after the 3rd time with no new info.

I missed Heroes and 24 because I hosted Keno at my house Monday night. What was I thinking? The thing is that both of these shows stream online so I didn't really miss them. 24 on myspace and heroes on the network site.

I hate it when they news people are on there just bs'ing about a current tragedy. Half the time they know nothing at all. I think if you have something new to tell, go ahead and break in, if not wait until the designated news timeslot.

That stinks. No, Veronica Mars either? You can always check out the synopsis on television without pity but it's not the same as watching it. Won't it be great when all the shows play online. I prefer to watch on TV but if I have to watch on the computer I will.

I think Luke and Loreli belong together. The problem is that happily after after ends the drama but maybe they could have a baby, except lane and suki are already sucking up the baby storylines.

My theory is that they will do one more season of the show. Alexis Bledel doesn't really want to come back full-time, so she'll become a "extra-super-special guest star" and the season 8 will focus on Luke and Lorelai finally figuring everything out and getting married. How's that for a series finale!

Wait a second . . .

*Grunts, grabs crotch and pelvic thrusts to assert masculinity*

I'm a guy! I don't watch shows like Gilmore Girls, come on! Let's talk about Man shows!

So what happened in the show?

(I am not disagreeing, but just sadly nodding and clucking.)

I fully intend you to . . . I will supply substantial quantities of your chosen beer, as long as the price is not too exorbitant . . .

Hmm, my chosen beer is probably not available in your country. I'll have to wait and see what is on offer before I commit.
