or; how a friend had to go

When I started blogging on JU, I wrote an article early on about politics in which the conservative majority on this site absolutely crucified me. Granted, I wrote the article in a moment of passion, and didn't mean what I had said, but I was crucified just the same.

It scared me away from this site for a bit. I didn't blog here for a few weeks after that.

But when I finally did start blogging here with regularity, one of the first people I met and began to have a digital friendship with was Amanda Pearl. We hit off a good friendship quickly, and I became quite enamored with the girl.

When I finally figured out how to make links on my sidebar, she was the second person I knew I wanted to add, after my good brother, BlueDev, of course.

For a lot of my time here, we were always right next to each other in the User Ranking list. We always made jokes about how we were twins. It was kinda funny.

But then some cowardly person, trying to dig at Amanda, printed off one of her articles and sent it to her parents. Something about that article upset her parents, has caused some familial strife, and consequently, Amanda has removed all of her articles and has decided to stop blogging altogether.

That kinda bums me out. I hate to see things like that happen to friends of mine. Hope things are better, Amanda. Hope we can stay in touch.

And hope whatever coward did that gets what's coming to them. Karma's a bitch, after all . . .

(Moral learned from Manda's experience - don't post anything I wouldn't like my family to see . . .)

I've always been curious to see if that "bumping" system of putting a comment in first to get it into the forums sooner really worked . . . (Okay, so I feel like a points whore today, usually I wouldn't care one way or another.)

I understand your sorrow.  I was not that well acquainted with Amanda as I am, what you would call, a "randy old goat".  And I try not to appear like I am making a move on the younger ones such as Amanda (you on the other hand I can torment at will since you know I am not making a move on you. )

But I did like her insight and writing and read a lot of her stuff.  There is nothing we can do to prevent what happened to her.  Other than retain our aninomity (with some exceptions).  But I guess if some one is out to get you, they are going to figure out who you are and do it anyway.

You can still blog very personal stuff.  just mark it for your eyes only.  It is your blog after all.

Meh. That's what I keep a journal for. That's where I keep my private stuff, simply because I don't want anything of a more serious note to be revealed accidentally if I don't click the right button, etc. But that's just me. I blog for the interaction, not for the release. That's what my music and my notebooks are for.

Oh, man. And I was so excited . . .

I'm really sorry you lost your friend here. I didn't really no Amanda that well, but I did read some of her stuff, and she seemed like a decent lass. I have to say it's pathetic of someone to want to cause trouble like that. What a ridiculous way to get at someone. She should be able to write, and be honest without worrying about things like that. I really feel for her. Hope you feel better soon babe x

I didnt know she stopped because of that. That really sucks. I hate to see her leave but i guess i would have done the same thing. I hope you guys keep in touch, sounds like a friendship to treasure.

Thanks, Sally. You're a doll.

I hate to see her leave but i guess i would have done the same thing.

I know I would have, Em. No question.

Amanda seems like such a sweet person...It's too bad she was done wrong like that. I hope she finds out who did that horrible crap to her.

Amen. I already volunteered to be karma's hitman and break kneecaps if she found out . . .

So do I. I didn't read much of Amanda's blogs either, but what I did read I liked. Whoever did this to her is bloody coward. I do hope Amanda does come back, for her own sake at least.

It sucks when you click with someone and they leave. Maybe you could contact her off list.

I'm personally wondering what's up with MM at this moment and hoping he doesn't disappear.

I swear, some people need to get a life. I'm always surprised the lengths some people will go to stick it to someone. Sheesh. Don't those people have anything creative to do?

But, yeah. If what you blog about it going to make problems with family, friends or work, then maybe the the writing should be kept private. People can get upset with things that become public.

In Japan 2 years ago, a girl in grade 5 or six killed her classmate because her classmate was writing rude things and picking on her and everyone was reading the website. That doesn't justify murder, but I think the story does illustrate the power the written word has on people when writing is made public.

Hope Amanda works things out with her family and I hope that jerkasaurus that sent the stuff has the same thing happen. Poetic justice, baby.

he seemed pretty nice, I hope she comes back under a different moniker.

Me too. She was very nice. I miss her too!

Yup. There's one hateful little twat of a blogger here who has insinuated elsewhere that I had something to do with her leaving, even though I'd always been friendly with the girl and she explained quite thoroughly her reasons for dropping out of sight.Seems some folks just can't believe that Im not responsible for EVERYTHING bad that happens around here.

What? That's ridiculous.

Guess what? I'm leaving, and I'm blaming you too, Little Whip! You heartless, cruel bitch!

You MUST be responsible for everything, whip, that's why there's no fence-sitters anywhere around here concerning you . . .
